About

Things I'm into: deviled eggs, playlists, breakfast for dinner, live music, jaywalking, NPR, the internet & rooftop views. I am currently available to be the bassist for your next air band in the hours I'm not being a designer at AKQA. Or we could go out for pho, your call.

I love the animation transition at 0:23 to the paper cut style. And coming to think of it, I really loved this movie as well. Of course the ultimates of my childhood were The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Mulan, The Lion King, Alice in Wonderland, Beauty and the Beast, I could go on. Though I can tell you with 100% certainty that I’m going to click “Create post” and open a new tab and listen to Disney songs on YouTube for the next hour and smile. I’m also going to have to turn on that space heater over there, the afternoon’s gone cold.

Trying to turn white buttercream frosting brown is only pretty for the first couple of turns. Then it’s just brown. Transitions are more interesting anyways.

When I lent it to her today, I made Tiff read the first page (front and back) as a sort of test. A Try Not To Laugh Because It’s Utterly Impossible sort of test. She failed because everybody fails because this book is hilarious. I would sneak out to lunch alone to read it and laugh out loud to myself in South Park. Which, if you want another thing to do that fits in the Laugh Out Loud and Alone categories is listen to This American Life’s “Recordings for Someone” with headphones on. (And then people will stop you and ask what’s so funny and you’ll tell them and they’ll write it in their phone and you’ll hope that they found it as funny as you did. And you’ll wish you had their number or knew who they were so you could repeat funny parts and laugh about it together after the fact.) At any rate, as I was handing it over, I almost wanted to take the book back and re-read it instead. But after she finishes it, b/c right now I’m onto Sloane Crosley’s “How Did You Get This Number” which is so witty and charming and everything I’d want in an older sister who knows how to articulate her thoughts better than anyone and all you can do is laugh and say, “well I’ll be dammed, me too.”

Besides Garance & Scott, this is my other favorite couple. Tami & Eric are beyond.

Flying. My answer to “If you could only have one, which super power would you want?” Hang gliding being the closest I’ve come, I’m much too frightened to try skydiving. That said, short films like this make me reconsider ever so slightly.

A favorite romantic moment from a favorite director of mine. Lifetimes are built on giddy memories like these.

I adore today’s Google Doodles for Roger Hargreaves 76th birthday. My mom used to read me all of these stories and I’d line them up on my dresser and stare and stare and stare at the illustrations, doodling them in notebooks. She told me I was a mix between Little Miss Chatterbox, Mr. Tickle, Mr. Bump, Mr. Daydream and Mr. Happy. That pretty much still holds true now.

Oh wow. Can you believe this is an earring? So beautiful and different and delicate and I want it. Perhaps Jennifer Tran will sell these someday. Or maybe I should just email her myself and ask. Don’t they feel like an über modern take on the hat piece? You know, the ones that you pin to your hair and only see in old movies?

I was chuckling while I did this so I thought I’d share.

The first time I’ve written on my hand in quite a few years. It’s been over month and I just can’t seem to remember to bring Jes “The Fountainhead.” Also, I have been wanting to put Jagged Little Pill and the Cranberries on my phone for some time now. Gotta spice up my commute tunes and I’m feeling a little nostalgic.

This makes me think of this. Love it when jewelry/clothing mimics architecture.
